Peter Köhler – Hidden in plain sight

26 Sept 2020–24 Jan 2021
Free admission

Peter Köhler was born in 1971 in Stockholm, Sweden, where he also lives and works. He is educated at The Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm. His drawings invite us to a swirling flow that in the way of a dream feels both familiar and enigmatic. The abstract merges with the figurative. The flowing and weightless organic parts contrasts with straight architectural elements, rooms, stairs and openings towards something else. The well-balanced colour scale, which also describes shadows and spaciousness, is clear and bright. Köhler draws inspiration from folk beliefs, legends, mythology, superstition and people’s way of protecting themselves from alien forces. He is also inspired by literature and music with magnificent soundscapes and wild nature.
